James began his career in the public defender's office, where he tried more cases in five years than most lawyers see in twenty. He brings that pace and pattern recognition to the firm's defense practice. His suppression work has ended felony cases before arraignment, and his trial record has changed more than one prosecutor's settlement posture. He teaches trial advocacy at his alma mater.
